As of the day this post went up, I am in my 28th week of pregnancy. It is really a crazy thing to think that these babies will be here in 10 weeks or less now. Where did this pregnancy go???
I’m sure I won’t be saying that in a few weeks when I feel like I want to burst, but I am still trying to enjoy these last two months in my FINAL pregnancy.
You can read my last update on weeks 25-26 here.
Twin Pregnancy Week 27
Genders and Names: One of each! Oliver and Annabelle:) You can read more about the reasons behind their names and pictures of the big surprise in our Gender Reveal post.
Weight Gain: I am headed into my 28th week now and according to the doctor on April 1, I have gained about 21 pounds total. I have been gaining about a pound or two, every three weeks up to this point, maybe a little less.
Sleep: I am thankfully over the cold that I was battling thanks to my lovely children, so that isn’t getting in the way of my sleep at all. Now, it’s the fact that the babies are on opposite kicking schedules, one late at night and the other starting at about 5 AM.
Food Cravings: Rice Crispy Treats and Cobb Salads on occasion, but no extremely strong cravings that my husband I have to rush to the store at 11 PM for.
Food Aversions: Back to the anti-meat part of this pregnancy. Salmon is pretty much the only type of meat I have been able to eat, maybe chicken if it is chopped or shredded.
Symptoms: I have started getting the “pricking” feeling that you get when the babies head is really low and it is pushing on the cervix. I have also had a lot of congestion in the mornings again, which is just peachy since I JUST got over having a cold. I also had a sudden wave of exhaustion come over me this week along with heartburn. Apparently, it’s my body’s way of welcoming me into the third trimester!
Clothing: It’s been really warm here and we have been packing, so I have been living in swimsuits and easy, throw-on outfits like maxi dresses, tanks and shorts. Summer maternity outfit ideas coming in the last week of April:)
Exciting Moments: We have another ultrasound coming up to check the growth of the babies, which is always exciting! We have also been knocking off quite a few of our essentials for the twins, even though the list still seems EXTREMELY long. Registering for twins was fun, but much harder than it sounds! We had a lot of my husband’s family in town this past week which was fun and full of activities.
Thoughts from this past week:
- We are officially in the process of getting our new house in order. I am glad that is one more thing out-of-the-way. Now, to decorate:)
- This past weekend we celebrated my in-laws 25th anniversary! I love that I am bringing these babies into the world with family that cherishes love and marriage.
- As the weeks close in and it’s crunch time to prepare for the arrival of these sweet babies, I am starting to think more and more about how the delivery of the twins will go.
*Here’s to being in the home stretch*
I remember those days, my twins are almost 4 :). I love their names! Good luck with everything, twins are awesome

Hi Joanna!
I am so enjoying your blog and look for it every week! It’s wonderful to follow! You look amazing ! I am 13 weeks 2 with twins and have a three year old at home! I am still managing to stay quite active but the bump is expanding daily without the pounds so far! You look so Neat! Can’t wait to watch the rest of your journey and read your helpful and inspiring posts. X
Congratulations! I am so happy you are enjoying it each week. I hope it helps you in these upcoming weeks of your pregnancy. There are some things I’ve found that are really different, and some that seem exactly like being pregnant with one baby:)
I love seeing your progress! Good for you for maintaining a healthy weight gain – 21 lbs with 2 babies is so impressive! Since, I am not a Mom or pregnant – yet, this blog has become the “What to expect, when you are (going to be) expecting.” Like the prickly feeling you discuss. Wouldn’t know that and probably would call family or the doc saying “What the hell is going on now.” Thanks for sharing!

Hahaha I’m glad that you see it like that:) It’s probably a little odd to read since you have never experienced it. It’s a little hard to explain but I do my best!
It is getting so close to the delivery day. A moment on your thoughts.. the delivery will go fine. Do you have delivery plan and it sounds like your family will be welcoming these babies with joy. They will be loved!
