No, no… we aren’t going to be talking about the television show today. I know, kind of a mean trick on my part. Hopefully this post will be just as fun though!
For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, go check out “Orange is the New Black.” You won’t be disappointed!
We are going to dive into the beautiful trend of oranges that is EVERYWHERE this season. From all types of make-up to clothing and nails, orange has taken the spring and summer of 2014 by storm! Who is loving this??? I know I am!
Orange Trend for Summer
Okay… so orange can never really be black for too long because black is every woman’s body-saving, beautiful grace. But it can be a gorgeous, statement substitute at least for a little while.
Here are some of my favorite orange products in beauty and fashion for this season:
Lips: Orange colors are seriously so beautiful on the face. Because of this recent trend, they have created some amazing orange lipsticks that will complement all skin tones! You just have to find what works for you.
- Vegas Volt by MAC– I talked about this in my summer favorites because it is the perfect mix of orange and coral in my opinion. I have olive undertones in my skin which creates a warm complexion, and I think this color really complements that! It definitely looks more coral in the tube but applied on, it takes on the orange undertones. Another one by MAC if you want a something a little more subtle would be Tangerine Dream, which is gorgeous as well but has a bit more yellow and a lot more orange then Vegas Volt. You can check out this beauty blog for more about MAC’s orange collection.
- Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Electric Orange and Shocking Coral- These colors are extremely similar to Vegas Volt and Tangerine Dream, but for half the price! Maybelline lipsticks are also great quality for the price, and provide a really wonderful color payoff.
Face: There are so many new eye-shadows and blushes and even eyeliners that are taking a hold of this orange trend. Some of my favorite by far are from the MakeUp Geek line. Their products are beautiful, high end quality with a low end price tag! Some of my favorite orange products from their:
- Blush: I will continue to rave about this product until I am blue in the face. I have never been a huge fan of blush, until these came into my life! Makeup Geek blush in “Bliss” is a gorgeous peachy, orange color that provides a light, but build-able, color depending on how dramatic you like your blush to be. It looks really pink/peach in the picture, put when applied it comes off much more peachy orange in my opinion. If you want even more orange, go for their blush in Summer Fling.
- Eyeshadow: These eye-shadows do not disappoint. They are BEAUTIFUL! The colors “Chickadee” (dark orange) and “Peach Smoothie” (light orange), are perfect for this trend and they aren’t too crazy. i use Peach Smoothie almost on a daily basis to blend out my crease or as a base color. Don’t be afraid of orange makeup! It can seriously be so beautiful and a fun pop of color on all skin tones and there is something for all ages.
Nails: For a little extra pop, try out this orange polish from the Sally Hansen Insta-Dry line called “Poppin’ Paprika”. Such a great color selection and the polish only retails for under $4.
Fashion: From dresses, to shirts, to neon colored bottoms, orange has been plastered all over the fashion world. I feel like orange is not the most wearable color sometimes, but just like in beauty, there are so many different shades available in so many assorted styles that you are sure to find something you love that works for you individually! You can take a look at my post on Floral Prints for some other styles that just have orange accents.
Peach with Orange Floral Dress: Hello Miss- This was from a sale on Zulily.com.
Necklace: Ethel & Myrtle, extremely similar styles on Bauble Bar
Burnt Orange Shirt with Cutout: This was from Tj Maxx, here is a similar style that is equally as affordable and cute!
