Coco Chanel- you know the words of my heart! If you haven’t already noticed, I LOVE FASHION. The trends, the changes with the season, the beautiful artistry that goes into every unique article of clothing and every individual outfit that gets worn. Seriously, give me any excuse to go shopping, even if it’s just window shopping, and I am there!
Some fashion trends change, some go out of style quickly, some stick around for a few seasons, some come back after years and years (like this high waisted short and crop top we have al been seeing so much of) and some wonderful trends never go out of style.
Black and White. Beautiful, elegant, classy, great for young, middle-age and mature women, really there is nothing bad you can say about this timeless trend! You can read and see more here about this trend on the runway!
Black And White Clothing Trend
We have seen the mono-chromatic and simply stated clothing trend from around last fall all the way through to this summer, and I don’t think it is going anywhere. Pairing black and white just makes sense to me. It is a clean look that can either add a bold statement, have a slimming or highlighting effect, and is just all around gorgeous no matter what style of clothing you are into. Here are some of the ways you can work this everlasting trend, no matter your age, shape, size, budget, style, or personality:)
1. The Maxi Dress: For moms, busy students, ladies on the go, or just a relaxing day, maxi dresses are easy and make you look pulled together (in a hurry if need be). This black and white chevron maxi is something I purchased for the fall of last year at NanaMacs Boutique, which is an adorable boutique that has great clothing at super affordable prices! I wore this when I was pregnant, and can still wear it now because the material is wonderful and did not get stretched out and ruined. For all my pregnant ladies out there, don’t waste the money on maternity when it is the season for maxis!
2. Black & White Casual to Classy Ensemble: A sleek pair of black cropped trousers will go with pretty much anything, and they can be dressed up or dressed down. I found these black trousers at Target and they are so slimming, so comfortable and so easy to wear! I paired them with a white and black slit neck jersey tee (here is a similar version in a tank top). I paired it with some metallic flats for a day time look at church, but you can also get fancy and throw on a pair of color-blocked heels like these from the best online shoe store of life, ShoeDazzle. This silver bar necklace is also from Target aka. Best store of life.
This is probably one of my favorite types of outfits to put together because it looks so chic and easy, but yet you just feel classy and classic when you wear something like this! Mature women can pair these types of pants with a more appropriate white blouse or shirt, and feel like they are put together and beautiful. Younger girls can change the pants to black shorts with a more youthful white top and maybe a fun pop of color on the shoes.
3. The Club Dress: This outfit is obviously not appropriate for all ages… I mean, I guess that it could be if that’s your style, I will just leave that up to you all! When we were in Vegas last weekend , I paired this black and white tribal print dress that has some cutouts on the rib with this white cut out platform wedges. Seriously, the shoes made the outfit like so many do! I also grabbed this neutral clutch from Nine West to complete the look.
Pairing white heels with an all black or black and white dress just gives the outfit that extra bit of something that it needs. A good pair of shoes can make any outfit go from” just okay” to “I need that in my life, right now!”.
Last but not least…
4. Romper style: I have a love-hate relationship with rompers. I think they are absolutely adorable and there are so many different styles to choose from. But, because I am a littel bit taller and have pretty long legs, they don’t sit right on me all of the time. If you find one with the right material, like this black and white patterned romper from BooHoo, they fit like a dream and are probably one of the most comfortable articles of clothing you will own!
I threw on some black wedges and a black skinny belt with bow detail to cinch this romper at my waist. You can accessorize casual or fancy, depending on where you are headed! Simple, easy, COMFORTABLE, and you can do pretty much any activity in a romper like this.
For a Bohemian Look (that I didn’t even plan, I just have a slight obsession with black and white), check out my last Beach Party Essentials post. The dress… it is one of my absolute favorites. This black day dress has a crochet overly. It has a tassle-tie neck and the it can be worn off the shoulder or on.(Here is a similar style) I paired this with a quilt-patterned white tote and some black flats, but you could also dress it up with some nude pumps… a little outside of the black and white trend. But, not completely:)
How do you put the black and white trend into your style?
