We’ve made it halfway through this challenge! Well… we as in my wonderful workout partner and I;)
This is just a short little post on how this challenge is going at a little under halfway. We just finished up the cleanse phase and we are now in the “MAX” phase which is where you’re really supposed to lean out.
Advocare 24 Day Challenge Halfway Update
The first 10 days of this challenge we something else. I went into not knowing at all what to expect. I definitely got more than I expected.
To give a little bit of background, the first part of this challenge is the “cleanse” phase. This is where you take fiber, drink your weight in water (not really, but close), and take some herbal supplements to help cleanse your body of whatever toxins that you have built up. At the end of this, I’ll go over all of supplements, what they are, their ingredients, and purpose.
As an avid wine drinker, I obviously had quite a few toxins in my system. Not regretting this though!
I changed my diet 100% these last 10 days. I went completely white grain/bread free, no sugar, little to no salt, no alcohol, no processed foods, nothing fried… it was not easy to convert when it isn’t what you’re used to.
Worth it? I would say yes.
The first few days were tough mentally. For someone like me with such a terrible sweet tooth, the urge to resist having my daily bit of chocolate or something of that nature was no joke.
And the wine… the wine crushed me. I got my last shipment of my Gold Medal Wine Club subscription on Day 5. Of course, I can’t sample it for another few weeks. Not to mention the fact that it takes a lot not to drink when you have two teething infants and two toddlers that think they can do whatever they want. Sigh… I just have to keep repeating that “it will be worth it”.
I would say that the best part so far was really feeling like my body was getting cleansed and back on the right track. The hardest part is adjusting to the specific way of eating, cooking, and making sure that you really dedicate yourself to what you are trying to accomplish. Goal setting for me was super important to start this.
Our “coach”, Melissa, has been so amazing and super helpful this entire time! I would say the one thing I know for sure before doing this is to make sure you have a supportive coach like her.
