I can’t even believe that I am about to say this but… THE TWINS ARE HALF OF A YEAR OLD! What?! Where on the earth did all of that time go! 6 months postpartum, 6 months post-surgery, 6 months of craziness with these kids!
We just celebrated their very first Christmas and, of course, it was so special to enjoy it with our four children. That still shocks me to say at times. It is such an adventure watching them grow, watching the bond that they have together, and learning to journey through life with double the amount of children that we had last year. (5 Month Update here if you missed it!)
6 Months Postpartum
I can actually say that I feel more like myself than I have in over a year at this point. It is still a daily battle to try to maneuver through this new phase of motherhood, but it is a blessing that I would never want to change.
The past month has been really busy with all of the holidays, birthdays, and family visiting. I haven’t really had a moment to think about anything health related which has been a God send, literally. I am so thankful for all of the support over these past few months.
Everything got cleared through my neurologist, except for my migraines, but I will take those over an abnormal MRI any day! I have some abnormal blood work that has to be rechecked again as well. Otherwise, everything seems to be settling back into this new version of “normal”.
My anxiety is still hanging around, but I have learned how to manage it, recognize it, and block it out rather than let it run my life like it has been over the last half a year.
I am taking a breath everyday and just trying to be thankful for all of these precious moments that I am actually starting to enjoy again!
Twin Life at 6 Months Old
These two definitely keep me on my toes. With them and their two older sisters, it is never a dull moment around our household.
Oliver is over 17 pounds now and he is just a stocky little guy. He is getting into everything and anything, starting to pull himself up on things to kneel and even trying to stand! He was king of the wrapping paper on Christmas. It’s hard to believe that he is already 6 months old, even though he is wearing sizes larger than that. His sleeping habits leave something to be desired, but I really can’t blame him since this whole teething thing has hit the twins HARD this month. His smiles and cuddles are one of my favorite parts of the day, and he is SUCH a mama’s boy, which I will never complain about:)
Annabelle is still our dainty little thing at around 13-14 pounds, but she is the sweetest little girl. She is finally starting to get up on her hands and knees and trying to move around. She has gotten the belly crawl down though! I will say this, for someone so tiny the girl can scream! The highest pitched sounds come out of her little mouth and you always know when she needs something. She sleeps through the night almost every night, and is teething as well, but it hasn’t hit her as hard as her “little” brother. Little Annabelle is very independent unless she needs something, which I love about her. I can’t wait to see how alike and different she is from her older sisters.
I love watching them bond and grow up together. We have now transitioned (trying to at least) them into the nursery and their cribs. It is sad to see them heading out of the itty bitty baby stages because I know that this will be our last baby stages for this time in our lives. the teething thing is killing us in terms of sleep and sanity, but I know that this too shall pass… eventually. Teething is the worst! We are starting them on real foods now, which will be an interesting change but one that I feel they are both ready for.
It’s bittersweet seeing these stages fly by, but I am loving every minute of it!
*Here’s to hitting the half-year mark*
Wow.. time really does fly! I can’t believe these two are 6 months! You look amazing.. I it makes me happy to hear that your health issues are getting a bit easier to manage. xoxox

I’m so happy to hear that you’re back to feeling like yourself. Motherhood is such a trying journey and it’s much easier travelled when you’re feeling yourself.

Awww! So precious! First, you look amazing!! Secondly, your twins are adorable! You are definitely doing an awesome job with 4 kids. I am a twin myself and my mother has very few photos of us before the age of 2 because she was so busy. Keep up the good work mama!
6 months already?!?! That means my youngest is almost 6 months too! Hard to believe. Time goes so quickly!

Those babies are so precious! I’m hitting 2 months postpartum on Saturday & I still struggle with a LOT – especially since this is my first baby. It’s always nice to see other moms like you who have overcome the ups & downs of the postpartum period. Thanks for being an inspiration!
First and foremost, you look PHENOMENAL. You definitely have some Christmas sparkle in your eyes. Also, those kids. Everybody in my family knows that Joanna’s twins make me want more babies. They are sooo cute! I am so happy to hear you are feeling better, I have been praying for you and will continue to do so. Miss your face, my friend.
It is really crazy how fast the time goes! They are adorable, by the way! Love the “Drinking Buddies” onesies!

When my twins reached 6 months, it seemed like a little back to normal! The teething has been awful. They are 9.5 months now and Twin 2 just got her 2 bottom teeth at the same time. Twin 1 is still gummy :-). I can’t believe how fast it’s gone. Isn’t it funny how different their personalities are? Twin 1 is loud and screechy and more active, twin 2 is quieter and more serious. And a lot more differences. I hope the next 6 months are great for you and your family!
