This week, we are diving into a bottle of red wine from everyone’s second favorite store, next to Target of course, Costco.
I didn’t realize how many amazing wine options there are at Costco until I started going shopping there with my mother-in-law. My only complaint is that they should be giving out more free samples of wine. I’m just saying, it would probably make people spend more money.
You’re welcome Costco marketing team.
Now, on to the wine review!
Kirkland Brand Wine, 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet’s are the perfect wine for the fall and winter season. There is nothing better than cozying up next to a fire-place, or snuggling up on the couch listening to Christmas music and drinking a bottle glass of Cab Sauv.
This 2013 wine comes out of Napa Valley, and is the signature Kirkland brand from Costco.
Bouquet: Sweet fruits, hint of chocolate, mineral notes
Tasting Notes: This wine has smooth layers of rich flavor. This wine carries strong black cherry and rich chocolate flavors that are accompanied by hints of smoke and an oaky finish. The wine itself is good flavor and provides a nice drinking experience. It is not as layered with flavor as I would like, but does have that hint of smokiness which makes the wine in my opinion.
Overall, this Cabernet is on the side of the better Cabs that I have had. With a price tag that is less than $20, it’s perfect for a poultry dinner with family or a wine gift to bring to a winter party.
I would give it 3.9 out of 5.
Come join us tonight on periscope.tv/mothrhoodmerlot for our weekly #WednesdayWineChat where I will be live at 6 pm PST chatting about this wine, and giving you some of that Christmas music we are all so ready for;)
*Cheers to finding the perfect glass of wine for those cozy, cool nights*
